I had the picture sent up north to my sister and addressed it to her mom since it was a Christmas gift.
On July 2, 2017, I met my sister for the very first time.
After 28 years of searching with little information about her, I had given up hope. My little cousin did an ancestry.com DNA test that she received as a Christmas present.
Her results came back in May 2017 showing a first cousin by the name of Kelli MD. When I was 3, my mother gave birth to a little girl and she gave her up for adoption to a family she had chosen and gave her the name Kelli at their request.
She is the only relative we knew of with that name so we knew right away it must be her. Once we found out who she was, we did a Facebook search and found someone who looked very much like my mother. Once we contacted her, it took a couple of weeks for her emotions to settle and for her to reach out to me.
But a week and a half later me, my son and our dog were in the car headed up to Michigan, from Texas.
I met her at her home in Troy on July 2, 2017 at 1:10pm.
